Korg Electribe Sampler Music Production Station
The revised Electribe series from Korg allow you to play back your carefully constructed patterns whilst using intuitive operations to experiment with new sonic possibilities. It is 10 years since the ESX1 went on sale, now there's a new sampler in the range, designed to be easy for a beginner to get to grips with whilst providing even more functionality for veteran Electribe users.
The Electribe sampler has been reborn, inheriting cutting edge technology from other products in Korgs line up. The internal memory lets you store 250 patterns including the persist patterns which are perfect for today's dance music scene.
The 16 pads allow you to create patterns intuitively and offer visual feedback. The pads can also be used as a keyboard to step record or input phrases in realtime. Quick variations of your patterns can be achieved using the 'step jump' function which the Electribe has inherited from the Volca series and by changing the 'last step' to vary the length of each part. The trigger pads can also be used for drum input and velocity can be switched off if required.
In addition to this there is also a 'motion sequence' function that lets you record realtime automation of knob and button operations within your patterns. Drums or synths can now be assigned to any of the 16 parts so users can experiment freely.
Another innovative feature is the 'touch scale' function that has been borrowed from the Kaossilator, this allows the user to perform without hitting any wrong notes when using the touch pad.
In addition to the sampler sound engine the Electribe Sampler also features several analogue modelling synth engines which are ideal for creating basses, leads and pads. Including the presets a total of 999 samples can be stored. The unit ships with a range of sample content including various loops and one shot hits. The 'time slice' function allows you to play loops at your projects tempo. Sounds within a sliced part can be used separately and you can even resample parts whilst altering parameters in realtime.
The new Electribe also provides individual compression and overdrive for each part, groove settings can also be specified for each part simply by selecting a template.
The master effects can be controlled from the touchpad and a range of quality effects are available, insert effects can also be assigned to individual parts for even more sonic possibilities.
Another exciting new feature is the compatibility with Ableton Live, it can internally save and export patterns in Ableton's format. The Electribe includes Ableton Live Lite.
