Additionally, it provides low-latency monitoring, many inputs and outputs, and vital controls to fine-tune sound quality. Simply put, it's indispensable for achieving recordings of a professional calibre.

Incredible Audio Performance
With every Scarlett Generation, Focusrite have aimed to help customers achieve the best-sounding recordings possible - and the new Scarlett interfaces are no exception. They have taken a huge step forward by completely re-engineering their audio circuitry and introducing the same professional-grade converters used in their flagship RedNet interfaces. These changes have resulted in incredible audio performance for the next-generation Scarlett interfaces.
Completely Re-designed Headphone Outputs:
Auto Gain - Let Scarlett Handle It
With Auto Gain, you'll never have to worry about setting your levels. Hit the button and play for ten seconds; Scarlett will set the perfect level for whatever you're recording.
Setting levels is one of the main issues faced by musicians new to recording. Auto Gain allows customers to focus on their music, whilst Scarlett sets levels for great-sounding recordings.
Unlike other options on the market, Scarlett's Auto Gain ensures levels are set right every time by factoring in:
While you're playing, Clip Safe is all ears. Checking your levels up to 96,000 times a second - more than even the most vigilant studio engineer.
Through our user testing, we found that Auto Gain can greatly improve the audio quality our customers achieve. When musicians get caught up in their performance, it is easy to forget about levels and just let the music take over - resulting in instruments unintentionally getting louder, jeopardising an otherwise flawless take. When Clip Safe is engaged, Scarlett continuously monitors input signals, and through a combination of analogue preamp adjustment and DSP, Clip Safe significantly reduces the risk of clipping.
Air - Discover Your Signature Sound
For standout lead vocal and instrument tracks, Scarlett's re-engineered Air mode takes your sound's unique character. It brings it to the front of the mix, adding truly musical presence and rich harmonic drive, just like a classic console in a big-money studio. Trust us, you'll never want to record without it.
All new Air features two distinct stages:
Dynamic Gain Halos - Level Up
It's never been easier to set levels and get "at-a-glance" metering on your signal levels. Scarlett's new Dynamic Gain Halos are more detailed than ever, using dynamic illumination to show you exactly where your level is. Find the sweet spot instantly and get great sound every time.
Scarlett 4th Gen's halos fill up to show the level of the incoming signal; this shows green or orange like a standard audio meter to show varying input levels. The whole halo lights up red if the input signal clips; this ensures the clip state can be seen from any angle on the front panel.
Preamp Gain Level
The Scarlett 4th Gen halos on 2i2 and 4i4 fill up to show the level the preamp is set to when the gain knob is turned. The preamp level is shown in white if there is no audio signal. It is shown in tri-state green / orange / red, just like a classic Scarlett halo when the signal is present, to show both the preamp gain and the level of the input signal simultaneously.
Get Creative with Loopback
Need samples? Make your own with Loopback. Send stereo audio from your music apps and other software straight to your DAW with Solo's virtual inputs. You can also use Loopback to mix computer audio into your live streams.
What is Loopback?
Scarlett Solo and 2i2 4th Gen now feature Loopback, which is only seen on the higher-priced Scarlett 3rd Gen products.
Loopback allows computer audio to be recorded into a DAW by "looping back" audio outputs from the computer to virtual input channels within the product. Sampling audio from your favourite tracks has never been simpler.
Loopback can also be used to create a mix of any audio sources on your Scarlett, whether instruments connected to the preamps or audio from your computer. Easily mix instruments and backing tracks for your online concert, or perfectly balance your microphone and game audio for your live stream. Sharing your content online just got a whole lot easier.
Zero-Latency Direct Monitoring (Solo & 2i2 only)
When the performance is everything, reducing latency is a must. With direct monitoring activated, you can hear your input signals with no latency - in combination with audio from your recording software.
What Is Direct Monitor?
Scarlett Solo and 2i2 4th Gen both have Direct Monitor buttons. This allows customers to quickly select which signals they hear in their headphones and monitors - just computer audio or a combination of computer audio and the instruments connected to their analogue inputs.
Independent Output Mixes (4i4 only)
4i4 has independent controls for your headphones and monitors, so you can record, mix, and playback audio however you want. Create a mix for an artist's headphones, independently mix for your speakers, and send specific tracks to outboard FX - all at the same time. Routing audio is more flexible than ever with Scarlett 4i4.
A Huge Amount of FREE Software
The Scarlett G4 series comes bundled with pretty much every piece of software you will ever need to make chart topping music. Check the full breakdown by clicking here.
