Advanced Wavetable Synthesis for Modern Sound Design

At the heart of the Roland n/vision is a sophisticated wavetable synthesis engine designed to produce sounds that continuously change and develop. Unlike conventional subtractive synthesis, wavetable synthesis allows you to move through different waveform shapes, creating detailed harmonic movement and expressive tonal variations.

The n/vision features two independently adjustable wavetable layers, allowing you to blend and shape different sound sources within its upper and lower parts. This opens up a wide range of creative possibilities, from smooth evolving pads and cinematic soundscapes to sharp digital leads, experimental effects and complex electronic textures.

Two-Layer Architecture and Multitimbral Performance

The Roland n/vision provides two-part multitimbral capability alongside Dual and Split performance modes, making it possible to work with multiple sounds within a single instrument. Its layered wavetable architecture gives you detailed control over the balance and behaviour of each sound source.

Blend contrasting textures, combine different tonal characteristics or create more elaborate performances using the upper and lower parts. Dedicated layer controls and an intuitive front-panel layout make it easy to experiment with sound combinations without interrupting your creative workflow.

Wave Shaper Technology for Unique Harmonic Textures

One of the n/vision's most powerful sound-design features is its integrated wave shaper. Using nonlinear processing, the wave shaper transforms incoming waveforms to generate additional harmonics and tonal characteristics that extend beyond traditional wavetable synthesis.

This allows you to introduce subtle harmonic colour, create more aggressive digital textures or develop entirely new sounds from your existing waveforms. Combined with the dual-layer architecture and extensive modulation capabilities, the wave shaper provides an additional level of control for producers who want to create distinctive sounds.

Vintage-Inspired Filters with Modern Flexibility

Although the n/vision focuses on modern digital wavetable synthesis, it also draws inspiration from classic analogue synthesizer design. Its filter section features multiple vintage-inspired models alongside modern analogue-style filtering, allowing you to shape your sounds with familiar warmth, resonance and character.

A drive-enabled filter adds further tonal possibilities, from smooth and rounded textures to more saturated, aggressive sounds. Dedicated filter controls provide immediate access to important sound-shaping parameters, making it easy to adjust your sound while playing or recording.

Deep Modulation and Evolving Sound Movement

The Roland n/vision offers extensive modulation options for creating sounds that move and change over time. Multiple modulation sources can influence wavetable position, layer balance, oscillator pitch and wave-shaping parameters, allowing you to build detailed, animated patches.

A Step LFO introduces rhythmic modulation possibilities, while oscillator modulation and motion recording provide additional ways to introduce movement into your sounds. The dedicated spread control also allows you to expand the stereo image, making it particularly useful for atmospheric pads and spacious electronic textures.

64-Step Polyphonic Sequencer and Arpeggiator

Create detailed melodic patterns, chord progressions and rhythmic sequences using the n/vision's built-in two-part polyphonic sequencer. Supporting up to 64 steps and eight notes per step, the sequencer provides a flexible environment for composing directly on the synthesizer.

Motion recording allows parameter changes to become part of your sequences, introducing additional movement and expression. The integrated arpeggiator makes it easy to generate repeating melodies, rhythmic patterns and evolving musical ideas, whether you're experimenting with sounds or building a complete electronic arrangement.

17 Multi-Effects, Delay and Shimmer Reverb

The Roland n/vision includes a comprehensive onboard effects engine for adding depth, character and movement to your sounds. With 17 multi-effects types, including the famous Roland JUNO chorus effect, you can enhance everything from classic synth patches to experimental digital textures.

Dedicated delay and reverb sections provide additional processing without requiring external effects equipment. The reverb engine offers five types, including a distinctive shimmer mode that adds an octave-shifted character to the reverb. This is particularly effective for creating expansive ambient textures, atmospheric pads and cinematic soundscapes.

Hands-On Controls with Advanced Sound Editing

The n/vision combines the immediacy of a traditional synthesizer interface with deeper editing capabilities for more advanced sound design. Its front panel provides direct access to essential oscillator, filter, envelope, modulation and effects parameters through a selection of dedicated knobs, sliders and switches.

For more detailed adjustments, additional menu-driven controls allow you to explore the instrument's more advanced capabilities. This combination makes the n/vision approachable for musicians who enjoy hands-on experimentation while providing the flexibility required for sophisticated sound creation.

Roland K-25m Keyboard Included

The Roland n/vision comes complete with the K-25m keyboard dock, providing a compact 25-key playing surface without requiring a separate keyboard purchase. The dock transforms the synthesizer module into a standalone instrument that's ready to play straight out of the box.

A built-in speaker allows you to experiment with sounds without connecting external monitors, making the n/vision particularly convenient for desktop music production, travelling musicians and spontaneous creative sessions.

USB-C Audio/MIDI and Hardware Connectivity

Designed to integrate easily into modern production environments, the Roland n/vision features a USB-C audio and MIDI interface for connecting directly to a computer. This allows the synthesizer to become part of a computer-based music production setup while retaining the hands-on experience of dedicated hardware.

Traditional MIDI input and output connections provide compatibility with external keyboards, controllers and sequencers. An external clock input also makes it possible to synchronise the n/vision with compatible analogue equipment, making it a useful addition to hardware-based electronic music setups.

Compact and Portable Roland Boutique Design

The Roland n/vision features a distinctive white finish with matching side panels, giving it a clean, modern appearance that stands out within the Roland Boutique range. Measuring just 308 x 209 x 54mm with the included keyboard dock, it fits comfortably into compact studios, desktop setups and portable performance rigs.

Power the instrument using four AA batteries or USB-C bus power, giving you the flexibility to create music without being tied to a mains power supply. Combined with its built-in speaker and included keyboard, the n/vision is a practical solution for musicians who want advanced synthesis capabilities in a portable format.
